Spectrum Food Puzzle

Paula Frances Duggins, Certified Health Coach

Welcome to the Spectrum Food Puzzle

As many parents have reported, there are several different dietary paths that can be tried to assist the well-being and development of a child on the Autism Spectrum.  It can indeed be a puzzle.  Have you wondered where to begin?

One of the hardest task of parents is to teach their children about healthy eating -- especially if the child is very picky and/or resistant to new foods.  Nutrition status and support are the first layer, possibly the most important layer, and the foundation for other therapies and treatments for all children. And it is also true that for children with special needs a strong nutrition status is critical.

There are many environmental, cultural, and social influences that compound the effort.  I have studied all the major dietary theories, including special diets that have proven to affect the well-being of some children on the Spectrum.  Using practical lifestyle coaching methods, we will work together, step by step, in coordination with your medical team, to navigate the nutritional options as a complementary biomedical approach to nourishing the child with ASD.

This disorder is indeed a puzzle that takes a clear and patient puzzler to work out.  But many parents report that dietary changes can make a difference to the well-being of a child.  Sound nutrition will make a significant improvement in the health and development of all children.  I coach my clients to create a happy, healthy life in a way that is flexible and fun.

No one diet works for everyone. As your wellness partner, we can work to find the food and lifestyle choices that best support your child and your family.
